STOCKTON, Calif. – Shawn Jones won the 25-lap Joe Hunt Magneto Series wingless sprint car feature at the Stockton Dirt Track on Saturday night.
Jones drove a flawless race, beating out Jake Morgan and Cody Fendley. His No. 24 car was also the fastest qualifier and picked up a second-place finish in his heat race.
In the main event, it was polesitter Scott Chapeta who took the early lead. Chapeta was the frontrunner until lap four, when he was passed by Jones, Morgan and Fendley and put back to the fourth spot.
Jones was the class of the field, easily pulling away from Morgan and Fendley in a race which saw only one caution, which was on the second lap for a three-car tangle in the fourth turn.
Jones worked slower traffic masterfully and won by a comfortable margin.
