WESTERN SPRINGS, New Zealand – American Shane Stewart drove to victory in sprint car action at New Zealand’s Western Springs Speedway Sunday.
The race, which served as the opening round of the Porter Hire Int’l Sprint Car Series, was originally scheduled for Saturday but was postponed because of adverse weather conditions.
Stewart was chased across the finish line by Jamie Veal. Another American, Kyle Hirst, finished third after setting fast time in qualifying. Troy Little and Kerry Brocas were fourth and fifth, respectively.
Jamie McDonald, Dean Brindle, Rodney Wood, Daniel Eggleton and Matthew Leversedge completed the top-10.
