Scott Benic Returns With Chad Boespflug

MARION, Ind. — Longtime sprint car mechanic and team owner Scott Benic is bringing his 2B Racing non-winged sprint car team back to the sport for the first time in a decade.

Owned by husband-and-wife Scott and Dana Benic, the new team puts California-transplant Chad Boespflug behind the wheel with plans to compete in the new Xtreme Outlaw non-winged sprint car series created by World Racing Group.

2B Racing hasn’t raced since May 2012, when Bobby East drove to victory lane at the Larry Rice Classic at Bloomington (Ind.) Speedway.

Benic was the 1994 World of Outlaws Crew Chief of the Year and is USAC’s only Triple Crown winning crew chief.

“Dana and I are extremely excited to work on putting the 2B Racing yeam back and on the track and hope to find speed out of the box beginning next month at Volusia Speedway for round one of the new series,” Benic said. “We will still be part of the Goodnight Racing team and hope to continue that relationship for the foreseeable future. Working with Chad should bring some fun and excitement to the fold. He had great speed in recent years and then stepped away from driving duties over the last few to concentrate on business ventures, but now is ready to step back in with both feet on the gas.”

Boespflug, whose résumé includes nine career USAC National Sprint Car wins, is equally thrilled.

“Not racing but a few times in 2021 was a good reset for me,” he said. “I was just burnt out from chasing it for so long. I would have raced more but the right opportunities just didn’t present themselves. The chance to race for Scott Benic and 2B Racing has me excited to go racing again. It’s going to be a really fun year and I can’t wait to get back after it.”
