Schatz Closes Gap On Sweet In 410 Rankings

CONCORD, N.C. — With a victory in the preliminary feature for the Ironman 55 Friday night at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55, Brad Sweet remains atop the National Sprint Car Rankings this week.

However, Donny Schatz has closed the gap. Sweet, with 13 overall victories, has an average finish of 4.938, while Schatz’s average finish is 5.0. Both drivers have made 48 starts this season.

Pennsylvania driver Danny Dietrich, who leads the country with 55 starts and has been dropping poor finishes since reaching the 50-start plateau, is third in the standings with a 5.180 average finish.

David Gravel, who won Sunday night’s Capitani Classic at Knoxville (Iowa) Raceway, is fourth with Ohio-based driver Buddy Kofoid fifth.

Dietrich leads the Eastern region on the strength of 12 victories, while other regional leaders are Kofoid (Great Lakes), Nick Omdahl (Great Plains), Dominic Scelzi (West), Jacob Patton (Mid-America) and Carl Bowser. (Ohio-PA).

One hundred drivers have combined to win 244 features run through Aug. 4.
