Santos III Bags $10,000 In Colorado Sprints

DACONO, Colo. — Bobby Santos III captured night No. 1 of the Independence Day Sprint Car Spectacular and along with it $10,000 at Colorado National Speedway on Saturday night.

Santos was the night’s fastest qualifier (13.358) and would start sixth in the 40-lap feature event after the inversion. Santos wasted no time getting to the front in an uneventful feature event. Santos took the lead on lap 13 from Bryan Warf who had held the lead up until that point.

Aaron Willison closed the gap late in the race when Santos got held up by heavy lapped traffic. Willison was unable to mount a serious charge due to lapped cars as Santos beat Willison to the stripe by 0.583 seconds

Following Willison was Davey Hamilton Jr., Bryan Warf and Jeff Montgomery rounding out the top five.

The win was the fifth straight for Santos at CNS dating back to 2018.

“We obviously gotta get a little better,” explained Santos in victory lane. “I think Aaron (Willison) was closing there at the end. We were definitely not as good as we needed to be because he was closing. Those guys are awesome and they’re a fun team to race with.

“This is probably our best event of the year because of the crowd we race in front of. We’re gonna have to work on this car tonight and tomorrow if we wanna win again. We’re gonna have to be a step better.”

Night No. 2 of the Independence Day Sprint Car Spectacular concludes Sunday.
