DUNDEE, N.Y. – Ryan Smith rallied past Jared Zimbardi with two laps to go to win the Patriot Sprint Tour main event Friday at Outlaw Speedway.
Smith led eight of 30 laps, taking the lead from Zimbardi and Paulie Colagiovanni on a lap-10 restart before Zimbardi countered. Zimbardi led laps 17 through 27, regaining control after Jake Karklin brought out the caution on lap 15.
Smith returned the favor on lap 28, working by Zimbardi to power into victory lane.
Tyler Siri rolled to the win in the 15-lap Gunslinger Dash for the Friendly Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM Outlaw Modifieds main event.
Siri charged past Steve Paine on lap 13 and dodged traffic on the last lap to take the win.
Danny Johnson slid under Paine on the final lap to take second, and the teammates locked into starting spots for Saturday night’s Gunslinger 50 event.
As the regularly scheduled Patriot Sprint Tour A main took the track, the action was stopped because of a fire in the generator building.
While the fire was quickly put out, damage to the building forced officials to shut off power to the facility and suspend the night’s racing activities.
