Rutz Racing Fielding Gualda In Two Western Weekends

MODESTO, Calif. – Tony Gualda will enter another season of winged sprint car competition by teaming up with Rutz Racing and PureCrop1 for the first two weekends of his campaign.

Gualda will climb aboard the Rutz Racing No. 1 during the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour California swing, which begins at Merced Speedway on March 6.

The combination will then follow the tour to Placerville Speedway on March 7 and Petaluma Speedway on March 8.

Following the three-night Lucas Oil ASCS weekend, the 20-year-old driver will then tackle the annual Silver Cup Race of Champions on March 13-14 at Chico’s Silver Dollar Speedway.

The two-night, non-sanctioned winged 360 sprint car event annually brings a star-studded field to the famed quarter-mile bullring.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to team up with Doug Rutz once again and have the support of PureCrop1 on board with us as well,” Gualda said. “I felt like we had a lot of speed last year when we competed together, so hopefully we can continue that right out of the box next month.

“It should be a great three days of racing with the ASCS National Tour in Merced, Placerville and Petaluma, followed by the Silver Cup in Chico.”

Last season saw Gualda make several starts with the Langley, British Columbia-based team throughout the West Coast. Along the way they picked up a victory with the Summer Thunder Sprint Cars at Cottage Grove Speedway in August.

One week later, Gualda drove the Rutz Racing special to another triumph, this time at Electric City Speedway in Great Falls, Mont.

Supporting the early season efforts with Gualda and Rutz Racing are PureCrop1, Richmond Engines, Stealth Graphics, Steven’s Pools and Triple X Race Co.
