PA Speedweek Point Leader Is Still Lance Dewease

ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. – He may not be running the full Pennsylvania Speedweek presented by Red Robin series, but Lance Dewease still held the point lead following the second night of racing Saturday.

Dewease finished third in the Kevin Gobrecht Memorial at Lincoln Speedway, but despite that kept the point lead by nine over Danny Dietrich, who won at the three-eighths-mile oval after a late pass of Kyle Larson.

A 29-time PA Speedweek winner, Dewease has accrued 325 points through the first two races.

Larson dropped from second to third in Speedweek points with 302 despite back-to-back runner-up finishes to open the series, with Freddie Rahmer holding fourth in the standings, 45 back of Dewease.

Ryan Smith sits fifth in PA Speedweek points, but it’s a distant fifth, 91 markers in arrears.

Lucas Wolfe (231), Brent Marks (220), Brock Zearfoss (208), Rico Abreu (201) and Brian Montieth (167) make up the balance of the top 10 in the current Speedweek standings.

With two nights in the books, PA Speedweek moves to Selinsgrove Speedway Sunday night for the $5,099-to-win Jan Opperman/Dick Bogar Memorial, a 30-lap affair at the half-mile dirt track.
