JACKSONVILLE, Ill. — Besting the field of 33 cars at Friday’s Herb Barlow Memorial at Jacksonville Speedway, Paul Nienhiser took advantage of a late-race caution to add to his point lead with his fifth Midwest Open Wheel Ass’n sprint car victory of the season.
After working his way past early race leaders Dustin Barks and Joe B. Miller, following a red flag for Zach Daum and Jacob Patton, Nienhiser felt pressure as the field weaved through lapped traffic.
Parker Price-Miller threw his hat into the ring, coming on strong to challenge Nienhiser for a handful of laps. All eyes fell on Logan Seavey in the latter portion of the race, as the Sutter, Calif., driver powered past 17 competitors to bring home the No. 01 Donnie Cooper-owned machine in third.
Seavey went on to win the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget portion of the event.
