ZANESVILLE, Ohio — Tyler Courtney leads the Cometic Gasket Ohio Sprint Speedweek standings as the All Star Circuit of Champions heads to Muskingum County Speedway for the sixth of eight events in the series.
Courtney, who also leads the season-long All Star standings, moved to the top of the Speedweek charts with a third-place finish on Wednesday night at Waynesfield Raceway Park.
Courtney holds a 16-point advantage over previous leader Danny Dietrich, who finished 17th at Waynesfield.
Courtney’s podium run — behind Kyle Larson and Rico Abreu — in the Clauson Marshall Racing No. 7bc sprint car came in his first visit to the third-mile Waynesfield oval.
“This was my first time here … it’s a pretty fun little race track,” he said after the race. “I’ve watched a lot of racing here on streaming services but never had a chance to race here. We had a really great night and our NOS Energy Drink car was really good. But when you’re racing with two of the best guys to do this it makes it pretty tough.
“I just kept making the wrong moves at the wrong times … but to come home third in the weeklong thing [means] we had a great night.”
