On Tuesday afternoon, sprint car driver Jake Neuman was hospitalized following a crash during qualifying at the High Limit Sprint Car Series opener at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas.
After spending two nights at a hospital in the Kansas City area, Neuman was released on Thursday afternoon and is now headed home to New Berlin, Ill., to continue his recovery. According to updates Neuman’s mother posted on his Facebook page, he started making positive progress on Wednesday.
“PT came in and got him up and he walked for a little while,” she wrote on Facebook. “We’ve been told he has a misplaced rib as well, but it doesn’t appear to be of major concern. Thank you all so much for your kind words, prayers and support!”
At the end of day on Wednesday, his mother reported that Neuman was “back to being Jake. We talked a while and he understood everything and talked about racing.” She did share that Neuman did not remember any details of the crash, which is to be expected.
A final update was posted on Thursday afternoon to announce that Neuman was able to return home.
