National Sprint Rankings: Gravel Keeps Pace Out Front

Two straight third-place finishes at Jackson (Minn.) Motorplex has allowed David Gravel to remain on top of the National Sprint Car Rankings this week.

Gravel, who leads the nation with 14 victories, has an average finish of 4.780 in 50 starts this season. He also leads the World of Outlaws standings.

Carson Macedo, who won at Jackson Motorplex on Friday, ranks second this week with an average finish of 5.380 in 51 starts. Donny Schatz, the World of Outlaws’ most recent winner after banking $25,000 for winning Saturday’s race at Jackson, is third with an average finish of 5.480 in 51 starts.

Pennsylvania veteran A.J. Flick has vaulted to fourth with an 5.765 average finish (34 starts) while High Limit Racing’s Brad Sweet is fifth (5.875 avg. finish in 48 starts).

Sixteen drivers have reached 50 starts or more, which allows them to drop their worst finishes. There’s been 155 different winners, one less than last season.

There were no changes to the regional point leaders with Anthony Macri (Eastern), Cole Macedo (Western), Sweet (Mid-America), Cap Henry (Great Lakes), Mark Dobmeier (Great Plains), Flick (PA-OH) and Robbie Price (Northwestern) remaining on top.
