MSCS Reveals Initial 2013 Schedule


HAUBSTADT, Ind. – The 2013 Hoosier Tire Midwest Sprint Car Series season is scheduled to begin on Saturday night May 11 with a co-sanctioned USAC/MSCS event at Tri-State Speedway.

This will be the first of 13 events scheduled to be held by the series this season. The Spring Showdown that night and the Hoosier Sprint Nationals, which is also at Haubstadt on Aug. 3, will both pay $5,000 to win. However, the biggest purse drivers will be competing for in 2013 will be at the Haubstadt Hustler on Sept. 14. That event is also co-sanctioned with by USAC and MSCS, with the winner earning $10,000.

One of the four new events on this year’s schedule is the May 25 special appearance at Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville, Ind. It is a holiday weekend and the MSCS 410 sprint cars will also be racing at Tri-State Speedway the next evening, May 26.

The back to back events both pay $2,500 to win the feature. The Memorial Weekend Classic at Tri-State on May 26 also doubles as one of the races on the 2013 KISS schedule. The MSCS Sprints will also return to Lincoln Park Speedway on Aug. 10 for a $3,000 to win event.

The MSCS sprints will also be appearing twice at the Bloomington (Ind.) Speedway. The annual Fall Clash will be held a week earlier this season, with the event now scheduled for Sept. 6. It pays $5,000 to win.

MSCS will also sanction the 25th annual Sheldon Kinser Memorial at Bloomington Speedway. The feature will pay $3,000 to win. It will be held on July 5. This is the first time for MSCS to sanction this enduring event.

During the season MSCS will race several more times at Tri-State Speedway. Three of these events are designed to appeal to a broader racing audience. The MSCS sprints will share the racing card with other organizations.

On Saturday June 15 the MOWA winged sprints will also be in the house for the Southern Indiana Sprint Car Stampede. Fans will see both winged and non-winged cars racing on the Haubstadt oval in separate programs on the same night.

On June 29 the POWRi midgets and micro sprints will be on the card with MSCS for this year’s Summer Blast. The Sept. 28 racing date will include the ALMS Late Model Series and UMP Modifieds as well as the MSCS sprints. The Class Track Fall Roundup will be a unique opportunity for a fan to see both sprints and late models with the purchase of a single ticket.

One of the highlights of every season is the Labor Day Weekend Challenge at Tri-State Speedway on Sept. 1. MSCS will be competing with a $3,000 to win purse. Tri-State Speedway will also host the MSCS season finale again this season on Oct. 12. The feature winner will receive the Harvest Cup and the $4,000 prize.
