FRESNO, Calif. — Jason Meyers Racing is doubling down next season.

The team that fielded the No. 14 sprint car for Corey Day in the High Limit Racing series, will expand to two cars next season.

Spencer Bayston has been hired to drive the primary entry and compete for the High Limit title, while Day will drive the second car when his NASCAR commitments allow.

“As Corey progresses in his career, our team understands the significance of participating with a full-time car in the High Limit Racing series,” said team owner Jason Meyers. “We fully support the series and are excited about their direction. We are delighted to welcome Spencer to our team. This decision was anything but straightforward. We engaged in numerous discussions with part-owner of JMR, Preston Cross and Corey, weighing our options carefully. We explored possibilities with several drivers, but ultimately, Spencer emerged as the perfect match.

“We all agreed that the synergy between Corey and Spencer as teammates would be exceptional, promising a strong collaboration on and off the track.”

Bayston, the 26-year-old native of Lebanon, Indiana had a standout year in 2022, earning Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year honors, winning twice at Bristol Motor Speedway and Huset’s Speedway. In 2021 he earned his first-career win at the Brad Doty Classic, It only took him three more months to win his second, this time at Port Royal Speedway.

Previously, Bayston’s career took off in the midget ranks. He was the POWRi National Midget Rookie of the Year in 2014, then upgraded to USAC National Midget Rookie of the Year in 2015. He collected several wins and a career-best Chili Bowl finish of third. His best season was 2017 when he won the USAC National Midget Championship along with the Belleville Midget Nationals and the 4-Crown Nationals.

“Receiving the opportunity to compete full time with the JMR team is incredibly meaningful to me,” said Bayston, who left CJB Motorsports earlier this week. “I have always admired Jason Meyers, not only as a racer but also as a businessman and family man. The passion and determination that Jason and Preston have demonstrated over the past few years, especially with the success they’ve achieved with Noisey and Corey, is truly inspiring.

“They have consistently. taken the right steps to compete at a professional level, and I am excited to contribute to the continued success of Jason Meyers Racing. Additionally, I am eager to work with Shane Bowers and perform in one of his race cars. I believe Noisey is one of the best mechanics in the industry, and his accomplishments with Corey behind the wheel speak volumes about his skills and the overall excellence of Jason Mevers Racing.”

Day won eight High Limit races in the No. 14 this season.

Bayston will make his team debut October 25-26 at Kern Raceway and Kings Speedway, followed by the World Finals from Nov. 6-9 at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.
