Australian James McFadden will no longer race sprint cars full time in the United States, he announced on Sunday night.
During Sunday’s High Limit Racing awards banquet, McFadden gave a heart-felt speech, stating, “It’s probably not 100 percent public knowledge, but I’m not coming back full time next year.”
“It’s gonna be home,” McFadden said. “We got way more important things to do in life. I’ve had an unbelievable time.”
While McFadden is stepping away from competing in the U.S. full time, he confirmed “it’s not the end for sure.”
Comically, McFadden added, “I’m gonna come here and probably send Brad (Sweet) a couple times just to make sure it’s good.”
McFadden completed the full High Limit season in 2024, finishing seventh in the standings on the strength of three victories. Prior to this season, McFadden contested three full-time years with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series.
The Roth Motorsports driver tallied 12 wins with the Outlaws, including a career-high six in 2023. He had a best finish of seventh in the standings (twice in 2021, 2022).
Buddy Kofoid competed in Roth’s other full-time entry in 410 sprint car racing this year, and he ranks fourth in the World of Outlaws standings.
Details on McFadden’s potential schedule next season have not been revealed. No replacement for McFadden has been named.
