Brad Sweet’s lead atop of the National Sprint Car Rankings shrank dramatically this week.
Sweet’s average finish of 6.219 is less than .04 points better than the 6.263 average finish compiled by Brent Marks. Sweet’s World of Outlaws rival, Carson Macedo is close behind with a 6.265 average finish.
Sweet, the WoO point leader, has made 32 starts this season, while Marks and Macedo have 38 and 34 races under their belts, respectively.
Anthony Macri and Dominic Scelzi round out the top five and there are 10 drivers within seven-tenths of a point of Sweet’s leading number.
Forty-six drivers have now made the 20 starts required to be eligible for the rankings, with 662 drivers having started at least one 410 winged sprint car feature this season.
Macri, who is the winningest driver in the country with 14 victories, continues to lead the Eastern region. Dominic Scelzi remains at the top of the Western region standings.
Jason Keith has moved to the top of the Mid-America region, while Cole Macedo returned to the top of Great Lakes region standings.
Austin McCarl heads the Great Plains points. With eight victories this season, A.J. Flick leads the PA-Ohio region standings.
Tyler Courtney won the Dirt Cup at Skagit Speedway and he leads the Northwest region, which is open for the first time this season.
Ninety-three drivers have combined to win 201 features run this season.
