An elated Kerry Madsen has won the NAPA Invitational Sprintcar final in Adelaide this weekend.
The 42-year old, three-time Australian champion displayed the form that saw him win multiple features in both Australia and America over the past few decades.
Driving the Mainline Dynolog #97 for the local Browning Brothers team, Madsen led from the start of the 35-lap feature.
He greeted the checker 1.8 seconds ahead of another South Australian Matt Egel at the wheel of the Whyalla Earthworks car.
Third placing was claimed by Luke Dillon, ahead of Brock Hallett.
The surprising winner of the $25,000 overall points check was Michael Steward in the Bohud Racing Team entry.
Finishing 6th in the round two race, Steward held sufficient points over Jock Goodyer, who finished  14th and Grant Anderson to claim the overall points payout.
Stewart had claimed the Sprint Car feature in Sydney the week earlier from Jessie Attard and Jordan Brazier, displaying his new season pace.
After some early caution periods, Madsen was unstoppable, holding Anderson and Egel at bay in the tight inner-city oval.
Anderson moved to the leader’s tail with two circuits to run, but a mistake saw him drop back through the field in the closing stages.
The Sprint Car meeting preceded the Vailo Supercars street race weekend through the streets of the South Australian capital city.
Broc Feeney won the opening Saturday Supercars race from Will Brown, Cam Walters and Matt Payne.
Brown’s placing gave him sufficient points going into the second race on Sunday to claim the year’s championship at the wheel of the Redbull Camaro.
