WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa — Pennsylvania driver Anthony Macri earned $23,023 for winning Tuesday night’s High Limit Racing Series sprint car feature at 34 Raceway.
Driving his familiar No. 39m, Macri started third and patiently chased leaders Brent Marks and Buddy Kofoid.
Marks led the first nine laps from the pole before giving way to seventh-starter Kofoid on the 10th lap. As Kofoid set the pace, Macri steadily gained ground.
Macri grabbed the lead on lap 28 and led the remainder of the 35-lap event for his first victory in the series and arguably his biggest victory outside of the state of Pennsylvania.
Macri battled Kyle Larson during the closing laps, but Larson, who started 10th, eventually slid behind 11th-starter Zeb Wise, who finished second.
Marks and two-time All Star Circuit of Champions titlist Tyler Courtney rounded out the top five.
Blake Hahn was the fast qualifier for the 51-car field with a lap of 12.380 seconds.
