Last-Lap Pass Lifts Spence In Non-Wing Championship

PERU, Ind. – With a last-gasp effort, Kyle Spence stole the $10,000 Performance Electronics 600cc Non-Wing World Championship from Alex Bright on Saturday night.

Spence made an inside pass of Bright stick on the final lap of the 50-lap feature at Circus City Speedway, racing back to the checkered flag in front for the five-figure payday.

It was the second year in a row Spence topped the $10,000-to-win NWWC finale. He started on the pole Saturday but chased Bright for most of the race before his late pass.

Bright hung on for second, with Frank Flud coming from 14th to complete the podium.

Joe B. Miller and Brian Carber filled out the top five, followed by Kris Carroll, Chris Cochran, Camden Winter, Brenden Bright and Russ Gamester.

One-hundred-fifteen cars filled the pit area for the final night of the four-day affair. It marked the third running of the annual event for non-winged outlaw micro sprints.

Carber won the inaugural edition in 2018 before Spence’s back-to-back run.
