HAGERSTOWN, Md. — After consecutive rainouts, the 33rd annual PA Sprint Speedweek got back on the track Wednesday night at Hagerstown Speedway.
Anthony Macri, who won the first two rounds of Speedweek, shared the front row with Brent Marks and the duo waged war throughout the 30-lap event on the half-mile dirt track, with Marks making a last-lap pass of Macri pay off for the victory.
Macri led the first five laps from the pole, with Marks leading lap six. Macri regained control and set the pace until Marks reeled him in on lap 27. Marks paced lap 28, Macri held the advantage at the white flag and Marks sped to the checkered flag ahead of his challenger.
It was Marks first Speedweek victory of the season and his fiftth triumph of the season aboard his familiar Murray-Marks No. 19. He earned $8,000 for the victory.
Macri, meanwhile, came home second and holds a commanding 107-point lead over Justin Peck, who finished sixth, in the Speedweek standings.
Lance Dewease finished third, with Freddie Rahmer and Danny Dietrich rounding out the top five.
Macri was the fast qualifier with a lap of 15.328 seconds.
