Larson Holds Steady Atop National Sprint Rankings

CONCORD, N.C. – Kyle Larson continued his winning ways in the biggest sprint car race of the season and extended his advantage in the National Sprint Car Rankings.

Larson won Saturday’s Brownells Capitani Classic at Knoxville Raceway, banking $50,000. Larson also won a preliminary night feature and finished second during the three-race weekend sanctioned by the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series.

With 24 victories, Larson’s average finish is 3.413 in 46 starts this season.

Brad Sweet is second in the standings with a 5.778 average finish in 36 starts. David Gravel (6.054) and World of Outlaws point leader Logan Schuchart (6.289) are third and fourth. Ohio-Pennsylvania region leader Brandon Spithaler ranks fifth with a 6.667 average finish in 24 starts.

Danny Dietrich and Brock Zearfoss, both with 51 starts, became the first drivers to reach the 50-start plateau, allowing them to begin dropping their worst finishes.

Fifty-two drivers have reached the mandatory 20 starts to qualify for the national rankings.

Regional leaders are Danny Dietrich (Eastern), Cale Conley (Great Lakes), Kerry Madsen (Great Plains), Jacob Patton (Mid-America), Brandon Spithaler (OH-PA) and Justin Sanders (Western).

Seventy-seven drivers have won the 196 features run this season.
