FREMONT, Ohio – Though he’s not running for the Cometic Gasket Ohio Sprint Speedweek title, Buddy Kofoid assumed the mini-series point lead with a win Saturday night at Fremont Speedway.
Kofoid, the reigning Fremont track champion, led all 35 laps to notch a victory during the second of nine Ohio Speedweek races.
The result gives Kofoid a six-point edge on Aaron Reutzel, 296-290, after a runner-up and a win in his two starts this weekend.
Kofoid will compete through Monday night before heading to the Great Plains with Keith Kunz/Curb-Agajanian Motorsports for a three-race POWRi midget swing.
Greg Wilson sits a quiet third through two rounds, with 278 points in his No. W20, while Attica winner Cap Henry (276) and Cale Conley (274) are fourth and fifth, respectively.
Paul McMahan (270), Jac Haudenschild (268), Josh Baughman (262), Skylar Gee (258) and Lee Jacobs (238) complete the top 10 in the standings thus far.
Though he’s missed the first two nights, Kyle Larson – fresh off a Pennsylvania Sprint Speedweek championship – is anticipated to invade the Buckeye state for the remaining seven races.
Ohio Sprint Speedweek continues Sunday night with a second-straight program at the third-mile Fremont Speedway.
