King Of The Wing Sets September Dates

MOUNTAIN HOME, Idaho – The King of the Wing series for asphalt sprint cars has announced a trio of events in Tennessee, Indiana and Kentucky in September.

All three events, which will take place Sept. 25-27, will be co-sanctioned by the Auto Value Bumper to Bumper Super Sprint Series.

On Sept. 25 the tour will invade Veterans Motorplex at the Rim in Greenbrier, Tenn., on Sept. 25 for the first time. Jerry Criswell is the current promoter of the speedway.

“This will be the race of the year at the Rim and one fans in the Middle Tennessee area won’t want to miss. We are honored to be hosting the first ever KOTW event at Veterans Motorplex,” Criswell said.

The series will then travel three hours north to Salem (Ind.) Speedway on Sept. 26 for night two of the tripleheader weekend. Just like the race at Veterans Motorplex at the Rim, this will be a new track for the King of the Wing series, though the Auto Value Bumper to Bumper Sprint Series has previously raced at the track.

“The Auto Value Bumper to Bumper Super Sprints haven’t been to the famed half-mile in Salem in over 10 years, so it’s going to be an exciting weekend partnering up with these three established pavement venues and two of the premier sanctioning bodies of winged pavement sprint cars to bring championship winged sprint car racing to the Midwest,” said Tom Hartsell, the Auto Value Bumper to Bumper Super Sprint Series.

For the final leg of the trip, the tour will head two hours south to Whitehall, Ky., and Kentucky Motor Speedway on Sept. 27. This will be the first time winged pavement sprint cars have visited the three-eighths-mile track.

The King of the Wing series is slated to open its season on July 3-5 with races in Colorado and Wyoming.
