BANKS, Ore. – Justyn Cox marched to victory during round three of the Western Sprint Tour Speedweek on Wednesday evening at Sunset Speedway.
It took four attempts to complete the first circuit on the quarter-mile clay oval. One things got underway, Cox cruised to the point. He set a torrid pace and got into terrific rhythm once in the lead.Â
Cox, racing for car owners Doug and Kathy Rutz, did have to slow down twice due to cautions. Cox was flawless on the restarts and in lapped traffic once it came into play.
Cox went on to earn his fourth career Speedweek victory. The last time he emerged triumphantly with the tour was at Siskiyou Golden Speedway, in Yreka, Calif., on July 10, 2017. Â He is the fifth different winner in seven series appearances at Sunset Speedway.Â
Tanner Holmes ended his evening in second, followed by Corey Day, Colby Copeland and Drake Standley.Â
Day was the quickest qualifier in time trials. Heat race winners were Copeland and Cox. Cox would win the evening’s trophy dash to earn the inside front row starting position.
