ELMA, Wash. — The High Rollers vs. the locals provided a memorable moment Wednesday night when Kubota High Limit Racing debuted at Grays Harbor Raceway.
Washington’s own Trey Starks, who lives only an hour away from Elma, earned one of the the biggest victories of his career, leading all 30 laps aboard his family-owned No. 55x.
Starks held off Tyler Courtney and Brad Sweet to claim his first High Limit Racing victory in his first start with the series.
The 28-year-old racer has won two All Star Circuit of Champions events and topped a Knoxville Nationals preliminary, but he said nothing compared to the feeling of a national victory with High Limit Racing in his family-owned ride with his father he idolized, newborn baby, Rowan, and wife, Ally, all in victory lane with him at their home track.
Starks rolled from the pole after winning the third heat and the dash. He paced Cole Macedo for the opening half of the Kubota A-Main and things did get close at times with the assistance of lap traffic.
Things were most in jeopardy on the final green-white-checkered restart when Courtney was hot on the heels of Starks, but simply unable to overtake.
Starks survived when it was all said and done to cash a $12,000 victory.
Courtney and the Clauson-Marshall Racing No. 7bc followed Starks to the line.
Brad Sweet rounded out the podium in the Kasey Kahne Racing No. 49, advancing from eighth-to-third to keep his championship consistency alive.
Jacob Allen and Macedo completed the top five.
