HIGHLAND, Ill. — Kameron Key made the most of the opening night with the Morrow Brothers Ford MOWA Sprint Car Series Saturday at Highland Speedway.
Front row starter Jason Keith jumped to the early lead over polesitter Caden Englehart. With three cautions slowing the field, Keith was able to maintain the lead in and out of lapped traffic.
As Keith worked through lapped traffic, Key was in the right position to overtake the leader, after a 360-degree spin by Keith on lap 22.
Keith took evasive action through the infield and returned to the racing surface alongside the hard charging Key, who advanced forward from his 12th-starting spot.
Key was able to power ahead of Keith entering turn one on the 23rd-lap and went on to win his first career Morrow Brothers Ford MOWA Sprint Car Series feature event over Jason Keith, Jacob Patton, Cory Bruns and Will Armitage.
