WARRNAMBOOL, Australia – Jordyn Charge led a trio of winners at Australia’s Premier Speedway Friday by topping the season-ending sprint car main at the quarter-mile dirt track.
With rain having been a constant during the week leading up to the event, a slick and racy surface greeted competitors from the drop of the green flag in the first heat, with some exciting racing transpiring throughout the packed program.
Charge topped the headlining sprint car main event, leading all 25 laps of the Triple Crown Series feature from the pole and taking the checkered flag 1.728 seconds ahead of Justin Barton.
Kaidon Brown completed the podium, followed by Michael Tancredi and John Vogels.
Matthew Reed, Brett Smith, Grant Anderson, Sam Wren and Phil Lock closed the top 10.
Reed kicked the night off by setting the fastest time overall in qualifying at 11.405 seconds, with Reed, Brown, Charge, Tancredi, Daniel Evans, Marcus Green, Shaun Lyness and Eddie Lumbar all winning qualifying heat races.
Ben Micallef topped the 10-lap C-Main and Dennis Jones won the 15-lap Last Chance Showdown, where the top six finishers advanced into the main event.
Alex Ross (non-winged sprint cars) and Tyler Maggs (Junior Formula 500s) also won their respective features during Friday’s Premier Speedway program.
