ANDERSON, Ind. – Little 500 Hall of Fame officials have announced that the 31st annual Little 500 Hall of Fame induction ceremony has been postponed until Sept. 5.
Jason Goacher, Dick Fuller, and Mark “Moe” McKeague were originally slated for induction on May 23.
With the current COVID-19 pandemic, and the fact the 72nd Pay Less Little 500 presented by UAW has been postponed to Sept. 5, it was the only option that was considered.
“It just makes sense to keep the Little 500 Hall of Fame induction ceremony on the same weekend as the Little 500,” said Little 500 Hall of Fame President David Sink. “When the Little 500 was moved to Sept. 5, it created a situation where the Hall was forced to move our date as well. I knew it was important to share the same date as the Little 500 for a lot of reasons. Many fans support our induction ceremony because the date is convenient. It also allows our inductees to receive additional exposure for their achievements do to the fact many of their peers are also in town for the race.
“Having the Little 500 and induction ceremony on Labor Day Weekend will certainly be different. It will be an odd year for sure,” Sink added. “But I really think the weekend will be very much the same. I expect to see a very big crowd and the same excitement and faces we see each May, only in September for this year only. I also feel the Class of 2020 will be greeted by a strong gathering despite the date change at our ceremony.
“I want to thank Rick Dawson, Jared Owen, and Anderson Speedway for allowing us to have our induction at the track and being supportive of what we do; I only wish it were September already.”
