JACKSONVILLE, Ill. — Jerrod Hull held off repeated challenges from several different drivers to narrowly claim the MOWA season opener at Jacksonville Speedway over a charging Brad Loyet.
Hull, who led all 25 laps, was first challenged by Jason Johnson, who later retired with mechanical problems. By the time Johnson exited, Kevin Swindell had charged from sixth to second and was mounting a serious challenge to Hull through lapped traffic before banging into the turn-four wall and getting upside down.
The restart would have Joey Moughan lined up behind Hull with 14 laps to go. Moughan would give way within a few laps to Brad Loyet who was charging from 14th-starting spot. As the laps wound down, Loyet continued to gain ground on Hull and finished within two car links of the winner.
