Haas Holds Off Rahmer At The Grove

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. — Cory Haas held off Fred Rahmer to record the fourth 410 sprint car feature victory of his career at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday night, taking home $3,600 for the win plus $140 in lap money.

Gerard McIntyre Jr. took the lead in the sprint car feature when the first lap was recorded followed by Adam Wilt and sixth starter Haas.

On a heavy cushion, Haas became making sweeping tours through the turns, trying to overtake Wilt for second, which he eventually did with six away in the 25-lapper all the while fending off Pat Cannon and a quickening Fred Rahmer.

After that, Haas began a series of sweeping corner swipes at McIntyre for the lead, slinging his No. 11c around the cushion while the leader worked off of the bottom until he was finally able to complete the move upon exiting the second corner to record the 12th circuit as the leader.

Once in front, Haas had to watch on the scoreboard as Rahmer continued his advancement from the 12th starting spot, taking over third on the same lap as Haas took command.

It took Rahmer a few laps to catch and finally dispose of McIntyre on the fast and tacky racing surface and by the time he had taken second, there was just four laps to go.

Though he was continually biting into Haas’lead, the winner crossed the line out of striking distance of Rahmer.

McIntyre rode home a fine third followed by Brian Montieth and Wilt.

In the season opener for the 358 sprints, Austin Hogue took over for Austin Reed to record his first Williams Grove victory.
