KOKOMO, Ind. – The result of BC’s Indiana Double Sunday night at Kokomo Speedway was one that Bryan Clauson would have been proud of.
Driving the TOPP Motorsports-prepared, NOS Energy Drink-sponsored No. 4, Justin Grant – a California transplant now living in Indiana, took a 1.391-second victory over Scotty Weir in the 25-lap event honoring the legacy of Clauson, the late USAC star and three-time Indianapolis 500 starter who passed away in August of 2016.
The name of the event, BC’s Indiana Double, honors Clauson’s Chasing 200 tour from the 2016 season and his pursuit of competing in 200 races, including May 29 of that year, when Clauson raced at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in the Indianapolis 500 and Kokomo in a sprint car in the same day.
Behind Grant and Weir, Jake Swanson crossed the finish line third ahead of Logan Seavey and Jason McDougal.
Cole Bodine, Chase Johnson and Thomas Meseraull were sixth through eighth, respectively, with Cannon McIntosh placing ninth in Steve and Carla Phillips’ familiar No. 71p sprint car.
Braydon Cromwell closed the top 10.
Weir, Swanson, Grant and Meseraull won their respective heat races, with Tim Creech leading the transfers out of the 12-lap B-main.
