MITCHELLVILLE, Iowa — TKS Motorsports and driver Ryan Giles have parted ways.
The team has hired Iowa veteran Tasker Phillips to fill the season of the No. 2ks sprint car for this weekend’s World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series doubleheader at Knoxville (Iowa) Raceway.
Giles made six Knoxville Raceway feature starts for the team and ranks 18th in the standings.
“We want to thank Ryan for his time at TKS Motorsports, but I think it was best for everyone to take a step in a different direction,” Troy Renfro, owner of TKS Motorsports, said. “We’re excited to welcome Tasker Phillips, who will jump in the seat for the World of Outlaws events Friday and Saturday. Hopefully we can come out swinging and put together two, great days.”
Driving his own No. 7taz sprint car, Phillips is 13th in the Knoxville Raceway standings with two top-10 finishes this year. Phillips, 29, started his career in Knoxville’s 305 division and moved through the 360 class before making his home in the 410 division.
Giles plans to continue to compete in the 360 division at Knoxville.
