OSKALOOSA, Iowa — After nearly 30 years of racing sprint cars, Iowa veteran Robert Bell earned his first feature victory Wednesday night at Southern Iowa Speedway.
Bell’s victory came in the non-winged sprint car feature on Kid’s Night at the half-mile dirt track.
Bell, known to fans as “The Colfax Comet,” held off Ben Woods for the victory.
Kelly Graham, Doug Sylvester and Lance Silvers rounded out the top five.
Other winners were Dustin Griffiths (hobby stock), Logan Anderson (Sport Mod), Clayton Webster (sport compact) and Derrick Agee (stock car).
Prior to Wednesday night’s accomplishment, Bell was perhaps most known by fans for a popular heat-race victory earned in a midget during the 2017 edition of the Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals at Tulsa (Okla.) Expo Raceway.
