ADA, Minn. — Mark Dobmeier defended his home turf Thursday night, claiming the King of the Wings sprint car feature at Norman County Raceway.
Co-sanctioned by the Bumper to Bumper IRA and the Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprint Car Series, 36 winged sprint cars were on hand.
Scotty Thiel grabbed the early lead, while Jake Blackhurst and Jake Neuman chased.
After multiple yellow flags, Thiel entered lapped traffic with five laps in the books until heartbreak came when he drove over the cushion and brought the yellow flag.
Neuman and Dobmeier led the field to green, while Blackhurst and Danny Schlafer battled for third.
Dobmeier closed the gab on Neuman and grabbed the lead with 10 laps remaining. Despite a final yellow flag, Dobmeier cruised to the victory.
Neuman slid over the cushion on the final circuit and Blackhurst finished second, with Christopher Tham grabbing third.
Neuman and Danny Schlafer completed the top five.
