As of Sunday morning, Lance Dewease was relieved of his position piloting the No. 69k sprint car for Kreitz Racing.
The team confirmed the news via Twitter, writing, “It’s a sad day for Kreitz Racing. Unfortunately, we have split up with Lance Dewease.”
The team-driver pairing has enjoyed immense success during their years together. Most recently, Dewease made car owner Don Kreitz Jr. the winningest sprint car owner in history at Williams Grove Speedway, bringing him a 93rd victory on May 26.
In Kreitz Racing’s statement, they credited the Hall of Famer and his wife, Renee, with going “above and beyond” in regard to sponsorship and generating “ideas to help grow the team.”
Kreitz, Dewease and crew chief Davey Brown formed a unique bond as all three have been inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame.
Kreitz also noted that they will be searching for “a driver/drivers” to finish out the season in the No. 69k.

Meanwhile, Dewease made it clear that this is not the end of his career.
“Thank you to Donald, Davey (Brown), the team and sponsors for the time I spent behind the wheel. I’m not done yet,” the 57-year-old wrote on Twitter.
He recently stepped into the cockpit of the No. 39m for Macri Motorsports during the Eldora Million, filling in for driver Anthony Macri after he split from his family-owned operation. Dewease finished 18th in the B main at the $1 million-to-win event.
A winner of three features this season, Dewease is the all-time winningest driver at Williams Grove with 113 triumphs at the half-mile track.
