BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Ryan Delisle won the 25-lap feature for the IMCA Western RaceSaver 305 Series at The Dirt Track at Kern County on Friday night to open a two-night race weekend.
Lane Taylor brought his white No. 4 home in the runner up spot ahead of the No. 1x of Richard Weddle.
Polesitter Ryan Rocha and Delisle brought the 10-car field down for the initial start. It was aborted when Orry Stevens spun in the first turn forcing a complete restart.
Rocha would jump out to an early lead after drag racing Delisle into the first turn. The young Rocha would lead, catching lapped traffic by the ninth circuit. The race’s first caution would come out on the 11th lap when Kevin Barnes who was running third, spun in turn four. A full straight away lead for Rocha was wiped out by this caution.
Rocha was leading Delisle, Phil Heynen, Brandon Emmett, Brody Fuson and Weddle.
Fuson would make a strong run after the restart and take over the third spot. By the 17th lap, Rocha would once again show his power and built up a straight away lead. Two more circuits he would catch the last place running car and as he was about to go around him entering turn one, Rocha misjudged and bounced off the right rear of the slower car, putting Rocha into the outside wall, damaging both the front and rear of his red No. 5r and brought out a yellow flag.
At the same time, Fuson had an issue in the fourth turn. Two of the top five cars were eliminated within seconds of each other.
Once restarted, Delisle would become the new leader. A few laps later, Taylor would take over the second spot. On the last lap, Weddle would make a pass to move into third.
The finish:
Ryan Delisle, Lane Taylor, Richard Weddle, Phil Heynen, Brandon Emmett, Orry Stevens, Tyler Gray, Ryan Rocha, Brody Fuson, Kevin Barnes
