Copeland Does It Again During Western Speedweek

ROSEBURG, Ore. — It was the Colby Copeland show for the second consecutive night during Western Sprint Speedweek with Sprint Car Challenge Tour.

Copeland checked out and cruised to victory at The Douglas County Dirt Track on Wednesday.

Copeland stretched his Speedweek point lead to 21 markers over Tyler Thompson heading into tomorrow’s show at Marysville Raceway. His win in Roseburg, Oregon was career triumph number five with the Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour.

The initial start of the 30-lap finale saw Bailey Hibbard get upside down to bring out a red flag. He emerged okay but was done for the event.

When things got going again, Levi Klatt led the opening lap, before Copeland shot by to grab the point.

Despite Copeland rocketing away from the field, the action behind him remained extremely entertaining, as cars sliced and diced on the well-prepared surface. Seth Standley drove another impressive race jumping into second on lap six.

Standley hung onto second until lap 21 when Corbin Rueschenberg made the pass. Shortly after that, a red-flag period occurred and during it, Standley had a fuel leak that put an unfortunate end to his feature.

There was no stopping Copeland up front who blitzed away and hid for the win. Rueschenberg crossed the stripe in second to earn his second straight runner up finish, while Dominic Gorden kept things exciting, as he rode the high side to a third-place result.

The Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour will continue Western Sprint Speedweek at the Marysville Raceway on Thursday.  All Western Sprint Speedweek events can be seen on CaliDirt.tv.
