Chase Briscoe will be re-opening his 410 sprint car team this year under the banner of Chase Briscoe Racing.
On Friday, the Stewart-Haas Racing driver announced that driving duties for the No. 5 red-and-white sprint car will be split between himself and midget driver Karter Sarff.
While part of Briscoe’s aim in reviving the operation is to provide opportunities to up-and-coming drivers, such as 21-year-old Sarff, it’s also a return to his family’s dirt-track roots.Â
“Sprint car racing was really my first love, my grandpa (Richard Briscoe) started owning them in 1976 and had many legends in the sport drive his No. 5 car and then my dad (Kevin Briscoe) took over and raced for 22 years until I jumped in at the age of 13, so it’s really been there for me since the beginning,” the younger Briscoe said in a press release.
“Once I started the NASCAR journey I always knew I wanted to stay a part of the sport as an owner give back to drivers I felt like deserved opportunities, because I wouldn’t be where I am today without the same thing. I’m super excited this year to have Karter Sarff try wing sprint car racing.”
The team will contest a 35-race national schedule. Key sponsors include Mahindra Tractors and Dorsett Automotive.Â
Kevin Briscoe will serve as crew chief of the No. 5 sprint car.
“I’m excited to get behind the wheel but also play car owner with Karter Sarff,” Briscoe said in a post on X.Â
Sarff piloted a Chase Briscoe Racing midget at the Chili Bowl Nationals in January and finished 18th in the A main. He also won last year’s POWRi National Midget League title driving for his family team.
