Carson Macedo Conquers Weedsport

Carson Macedo is interviewed in victory lane at Weedsport Speedway after his second consecutive All Star sprint car victory.

WEEDSPORT, N.Y. — A beautiful evening and near capacity crowd welcomed the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions sprint cars and the DIRTcar big-block modifieds to Weedsport Speedway on Sunday evening with Carson Macedo and Matt Sheppard reaching Victory Hill.

Macedo dominated the first All Star event to be held at Weedsport, worth $5,000, leaving a terrific battle for second between Paul McMahan and Danny Dietrich. It was Macedo’s second-straight All Star victory after also winning Saturday at Stateline Speedway in Jamestown, N.Y.

“This is pretty unbelievable. What a weekend for this team,” Macedo explained in Weedsport Speedway victory lane. “Tim and Cindy Norman, Joe Gaerte; they all do such an amazing job with this race team. The car keeps getting better and better. Our plan was to come to New York and be competitive all weekend, but to win two straight is pretty special. This is a perfect transition into Ohio Sprint Speedweek.”

McMahan would emerge as the runner-up over Dietrich, Aaron Reutzel and Parker Price-Miller.

Greg Hodnett, Tony Stewart, Chad Kemenah, Mike Mahaney and Larry Wight would fill the top 10.

Twenty-eight 410 sprint cars were in the pit area on Sunday.

The DIRTcar Big Block Modified portion of the night’s program saw Sheppard start seventh with Wight taking the early race lead over Tyler Trump.

By lap 12, Sheppard moved into the runner-up position and eventually worked by Wight for the lead just beyond halfway and never looked back.

Sheppard’s win was worth $2,500 and was his 20th career big-block triumph at Weedsport and his 15th win of the 2018 season.

Wight came home in second over Pat Ward, Trump, Ron Davis III, Brett Hearn, Jimmy Phelps, Chris Hile, Alan Johnson, and Max McLaughlin.
