Bayston, CJB Motorsports Part Ways

Spencer Bayston and CJB Motorsports have parted ways, the team revealed via social media on Wednesday.

The pairing had been together for three seasons at a national level, including two with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series and most recently in High Limit Racing this past season.

“Racing winged sprint cars full time on a national level was something I always dreamt of as a kid,” Bayston said in a team release. “Chad, Barry and everyone CJB Motorsports were the first team to provide me with that opportunity, and I will be forever grateful for them investing into my career.

“I have learned so much over the last three years about this industry and what it takes to compete on a professional level.

“I was fortunate to have had the chance to spend three years with Barry as my crew chief,” Bayston continued. “Having Barry in my corner has helped my progression as a driver and competitor. Experiencing his passion and knowledge for the sport is something everyone could benefit by, and I feel fortunate to have had the chance to work with someone as talented as him.

“I would like to thank all of our fans for their support on the No. 5 car these last three years and want to wish everyone at CJB the best of luck in their future endeavors.”

Notably, Bayston scored rookie of the year honors in 2022 with the World of Outlaws and won five races during his tenure with the Outlaws. The No. 5 team finished eighth in the High Limit standings this season.

“We’ve been fortunate to have Spencer as part of our team for the past three years,” Barry Jackson, crew chief, said. “His dedication and drive on and off the track have contributed greatly to our success. His victory at Bristol (Tenn.) and the honor of being named rookie of the year in 2022 were particularly proud moments for our organization.

“We appreciate everything Spencer has brought to the table and wish him nothing but the best in the next chapter of his racing career.”

According to the release, CJB will “now focus on preparing for the future as they aim to continue their winning tradition in sprint car racing.”
