FRANKLIN, Ind. — Emerson Axsom, who finished third in the USAC national sprint car standings, will go racing with a wing over his head next season.
Axsom has confirmed on social media that he has parted ways with Clauson Marshall Racing and will race winged sprint cars next season.
“I think it’s finally time we announce our 2024 plans, with that being said Clauson Marshall Racing and I have went separate ways,” Axsom wrote on Sunday afternoon. “I wanna thank Tim and Richard for giving me a shot two and a half years ago, I will always be thankful for the opportunity to drive great cars. I’m also very excited for next year’s opportunity.”
Axsom, 19, who had limited experience in winged cars while driving for Clauson Marshall, will drive the No. 27 fielded by Dale Klaasmeyer and Scott Petry and housed in the Axsom family shop.
“We plan on going winged sprint car racing with Dale Klaasmeyer and Scott Petry out of our family shop,” Axsom continued. “We have to set schedule to run but plan on running around 80 to 100 races. I want to thank Dale and Scott for coming on board and building this new team and hiring the right people and taking this next step in racing with me as my goal has always been winged sprint car racing.”
Axsom and the No. 27 operation have not yet committed to the High Limit Racing or World of Outlaws tour.
