CHICO, Calif. – With the season in California finally off and running following a wet early spring, Andy Gregg has announced that he will join BrownEagle Racing to drive the No. 01 this season.
The team’s first event is expected to be the Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, Calif., on May 4.
“Brian Brown and I got to talking and he was interested in putting a schedule together to run some races this summer, and with my family having a busy schedule through the Spring, it seems like it will be a perfect fit,” said Gregg. “I am really excited about the opportunity, and am thankful to Brian and his team.”
Brown spent much of his early years playing football, and actually was pointed towards the National Football League in 1990 until an accident derailed that plan.
With family involvement in racing for more than four decades, 2019 will mark the 50th year of racing for the Brown family.
“The BrownEagle Racing team has slowly become a regular up at Placerville Speedway the last few years, and this year they want to do some 410ci racing on a limited basis, and I think it will be fun,” Gregg noted. “The team has some great marketing partners, but our schedule will just depend on how things go, and if we can attract some more partners.”
Gregg is no stranger to the sprint car scene in Northern California, as he has been around since 2001 and has amassed 22 career wins since 2004, including the Mark Forni Classic at Placerville Speedway.
Gregg landed on the podium at the Gold Cup Race of Champions back in 2011, and in 2014 he made his way back to compete in the Knoxville Nationals, where he earned Rookie of the Year Honors as the prestigious event.
