Abreu Holds Off MOWA Foes

LINCOLN, Ill. — Rico Abreu survived a last-lap restart to win Friday night’s Built Ford Tough MOWA Sprint Cars presented by Morrow Brothers sprint car feature at Lincoln Speedway.

Abreu and Parker Price-Miller raced to the front of the 25-lap event with Abreu holding a pretty wheel. Price-Miller wasn’t far behind, however, just waiting for a mistake to be made.  As the laps wound down, Abreu had his hands full, working heavy lapped traffic with Price-Miller hot on his heels.

In fact, a couple of times, Price-Miller edged ahead for the lead.  The race went green until the competitors were on the final circuit, as Paul Nienhiser’s No. 9 slammed the catch fence in turn one, resulting in a red flag.

With 24 laps complete, the field had a green-white-checkered to determine the winner. Abreu pulled ahead by several car lengths and claimed the feature victory. Price-Miller finished second with Jason Keith, Jordan Goldsberry and Austin McCall completing the top five.

Denny Woodworth won the pro late model feature and Austin Lynn won the modified main event.
