HANFORD, Calif. — Rico Abreu won the 30-lap Sprint Car Challenge Tour feature during the 33rd annual Penny Newman Cotton Classic Saturday at Keller Auto Speedway.
Abreu started on the pole of the SCCT feature along side of his teammate for the weekend, Jac Haudenschild.
But it was the Rutherford, California ace who battled with Shane Golobic for most of the race in a tight contest.
In classic sprint car racing fashion, the two veterans swapped the lead several times over the 30-lap tussle, but it was blue and yellow No. 24 which prevailed over Golobic’s No. 17w. Dominic Scelzi and Kyle Hirst completed the top five.
