As the High Limit Sprint Car Series season is set to get underway in less than a week, 26 drivers intend to run the full 11-race schedule in the series’ inaugural campaign.
Dubbed the “High Rollers,” the group of confirmed full-timers includes established names in the world of 410 sprint car racing, young drivers who are antsy to make their mark and a few wildcards.
The series will kick off its inaugural season on April 11 at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas, with in a $50,000-to-win feature. The scheduled March 21 event at California’s Thunderbowl Raceway was canceled due to rain. All 11 races will be run in the middle of the week and will feature winner’s purses of at least $23,000 to win.
NASCAR Cup Series driver Kyle Larson, who co-founded the series with his brother-in-law, four-time World of Outlaws champion Brad Sweet, headlines the full-time field. Larson’s Hendrick Motorsports NASCAR teammate Alex Bowman has also signed up for the full season.
Buddy Kofoid, who won the inaugural High Limit race last August, is on the roster, along with Pennsylvania’s Anthony Macri, who was the winningest driver in the country last season. California sprint car aces Rico Abreu, Cory Eliason and Justin Sanders have also committed to the tour.
Former ASCS champions Sam Hafertepe Jr. and Blake Hahn, as well as series veteran Dylan Westbrook, plan to hunt for the inaugural High Limit title. Formidable PA Posse members Danny Dietrich and Brent Marks will also be contenders. Marks was the leading money winner in the country last season and Dietrich will wheel Noah Gass’ familiar No. 20 machine in High Limit events.
Several Knoxville (Iowa) Raceway regulars have committed to the full season, including track champion Brian Brown. Aaron Reutzel, Dusty Zomer, Justin Henderson, Riley Coodno and Chase Randall have also committed to the midweek series.
Two-time All Star Circuit of Champions titlist Tyler Courtney, along with fellow series regulars Hunter Schuerenberg, Conner Morrell and Parker Price-Miller, have also committed to running the High Limit races.
Up-and-comer Ryan Timms, “North Pole Nightmare” Bill Balog and ESS regular Paulie Colagiovanni will be drivers to watch. Justin Peck, who ran more races than any other driver in the country last year, completes the 26-man roster.
