FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Second Shift Motorsports will be sponsoring this year’s rising star award for the Baker Racing Engines Quarter Midget competition at the Rumble in Fort Wayne, December 29-30.
Both days of action will be broadcast live by SPEED SPORT affiliate Pit Row.tv.
As one of the many divisions of racing that makes up the unique indoor racing action at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum, quarter midgets showcase the youth movement as they begin their journey into auto racing. Drivers competing in the event range from five-16 and represent many area clubs that feature quarter midget outdoors during the summer months.
However, the action at the Rumble (presented by Jason Dietsch Trailer Sales) is a completely different challenge. The racing oval is nearly twice as big as a traditional quarter midget configuration. With this increased size comes much faster speeds that require keen reflexes and much more concentration.
For this, the rising star award was created. It will showcase one driver among the over 60 entrants that best demonstrates a response to these challenges, as selected by a special committee of voters.
“We, at Second Shift Motorsports, are excited to be a part of the Rumble,” commented company vice president Jami Goslee. “Quarter Midget racing allows children to participate in a sport that motivates them to achieve personal success. We are here to help ensure their success, starting with the car prep to providing coaching for the driver.
“Sponsoring the Rising Star Award for this year’s Baker Racing Engines Rumble Quarter Midgets aligns with our company goals of watching children grow and help them reach their racing dreams.”
Joining the Baker Racing Engines Quarter Midgets in full racing programs on Dec. 29-30 will be midgets, winged and non-winged 600cc midgets and multiple divisions of kart racing.
