FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Repeating an award that was introduced last year, Pit Row TV, the broadcast partner for the Rumble in Fort Wayne presented by Jason Dietsch Trailer Sales, will be presenting the ‘Rising Star Award’ at this year’s 24th running of the Rumble, Dec. 30 and 31.
One driver from the within the six divisions of Baker Racing Engines quarter midgets competing at the Rumble will be acknowledged for their efforts on and off the race track throughout the weekend, with a special plaque and a check for $200 courtesy of Pit Row TV.
“Over the years, the Rumble in Fort Wayne has become a pinnacle event in the quarter midget world,” said event promoter Larry Boos. “With the larger track, high speeds, and tough competition, winning a Rumble feature becomes a prominent entry into any quarter midget driver’s resume.”
Looking back into the history of the Rumble, current NASCAR Cup stars Chase Briscoe and Erik Jones were quarter midget entrants as was rising USAC National Midget star Jacob Denney.
Pit Row TV is an affiliate of SPEED SPORT, who has been covering the careers of young racers for many decades.
“With the history of SPEED SPORT’s dedication to neophyte drivers, it is only natural that we offer this award,” commented Pit Row TV’s Tony Stevens. “At the opposite end of the building on Rumble weekend will be headliners Tony Stewart, Justin Peck, Kyle Hamilton and others — drivers that the quarter midget racers emulate and aspire to be. We look forward to rewarding one of the hard charging quarter midget drivers.”
Kedryn Everson captured the award last year.
Joining the Baker Racing Engines quarter midgets each day of the Rumble in full racing programs will be midgets, eight classes of go-karts, LiUNA non-winged 600 midgets and North Baltimore Custom Cuts winged 600 midgets.
