SYCAMORE, Ill. – Chase McDermond won the 20-lap Zimbrick Chevrolet of Sun Prairie Badger Midget Racing Series feature Saturday Night at Sycamore Speedway.

The event was co-sanctioned with the POWRi Lucas Oil Regional Midget Series.

Mike Stroik paced the opening lap before Zach Boden took over the top position on the second lap. McDermand moved in to the third place, two laps later. The event’s only caution appeared on lap five for a spun car.

On the restart, McDermand passed Boden for the lead on the backstretch. McDerman held a four-car length lead at the midway point over Kevin Olson, Andrew Felker and fast qualifier Scott Hatton.

The trio exchanged positions second-fourth over the next five laps, while McDermand held his lead. With the “racing groove” changing and lapped traffic, the three cars closed to within a car length of McDermand with three laps remaining.

McDermand driving the Mike Wallace Racing owned Boss/Chevrolet No. 10c finished one car length ahead of Felker at the finish.

“My car owner Mike Wallace gave me a perfect car; the deal to race the car came together at the last minute, but it’s great to get a Badger feature victory,” said McDermand. “I knew a lot of fast cars were behind me but I ran my race and it worked great.

Felker’s second place position was gained when he passed Olson for the position in the final fifty yards before the start/finish line. Olson finished third, with Hatton trailing in fourth by a half-car length.

Ryan Probst claimed the Advance Race Suspensions Hard Charger Award improving from his 13th place starting position to finish in fifth.

Seventh-finishing Aaron Schuck won the Howard Law Cash Draw, a bonus for a randomly selected feature finishing position.
