INDIANAPOLIS — Eighteen-year-old Macy Williams will make her oval track debut this weekend during the Kenyon Midget Series portion of the 8th annual Tony Elliot Classic at Anderson (Ind.) Speedway on Saturday, Oct. 7.
Williams will pilot the No. 2 Jeff Hill Trailer Sales entry with support from open-wheel veteran Aaron Pierce and his AP Driver Development organization.
Willams has amassed countless event wins and series championships throughout her career and this year was no different. In February, she won round one of the Challenge of Americas in Tucson, becoming the first woman to win the ROK Shifter class. In March, Williams won the Phoenix Karting Association Rotax Trophy West Series.
She was second in championship points in the Challenge of the Americas shifter class at Sonoma in April and won the Senior Rotax class at Stratotech Raceway in Saskatchewan, Canada, in July.
After enjoying success in karting, she feels now is the time to try something new to advance her career — and she will be in good company. Aaron Pierce has multiple Kenyon Midget Series wins, championships in midget and sprint cars, and multiple wins in USAC Silver Crown, Trans Am and late models.
“AP” recently launched his driver development firm to aid aspiring young racers navigate their journey into professional motorsports and has enjoyed instant success with Kaylee Bryson in the USAC Silver Crown Series. Bryson has mathematically clinched the Rookie of the Year points and is in a tight battle for fourth in national points with one race to go in the season.
”Anderson Speedway is the perfect place to cut your teeth in Kenyon Midget Cars,” Pierce said. “Just look at what Coltin Bettis did this summer. That young man came up here and dominated the race and had never seen the place before. Macy has a ton of talent — she’ll be just fine.”
