FORT WAYNE, Ind. — One of the most anticipated events on the go-karting schedule each year at the Rumble in Fort Wayne will be repeated in 2024, with the running of the John Limbacher Memorial Race.
Contested by the 360 Clone division of karts, the Limbacher family is posting a $2,000 top prize for the race as it enters is 6th annual running Saturday, Dec. 30.
“Dad’s business, Limbacher Extreme Power, was highly respected in the go-kart circle and he loved the on-track competition level of the karts. With $2,000 on the line for the winner, it certainly ups the ante on competition, and I’m sure dad is proud of what we are doing to carry on his legacy,” said Limbacher’s son Jon.
“Each of the past five Limbacher Memorials have wowed the crowd with intense racing, and I expect this year to be the same,” continued the young Limbacher. “This is such a great tribute to Dad. Heading to the Rumble each year was the highlight of his racing season. After he passed in 2017, our family created this event as a memory to the great times.”
Shawn Kluck comes into the fray as the driver to beat.
As the only karter to capture more than one Limbacher check, Kluck is the defending champion with back-to-back wins. Jack Shelley wheeled to victory in the initial running of the prestigious race, followed in successive years by Dustin Heath and Philip Schneider.
“The Limbacher Memorial is one of the biggest karting events each year and highly respected by racers from throughout the Midwest,” Kluck said. “It pits the best of the best against each other in brawny wheel-to-wheel racing, only inches apart with supreme respect for each other as we chase for the checkered flag, trophy and most importantly $2,000.”
Each day of the Rumble in Fort Wayne presented by Jason Dietsch Trailer Sales (Dec. 29-30) features a full program of midgets, winged and non-winged 600cc midgets, Baker Racing Engines Quarter Midgets and go-karts in the 25th running of the popular off-season event.
